A suicide bomber attacked the busiest airport in Moscow on Monday, killing 35 people and wounding nearly 100, officials and state television.

Explosion occurred about 16:30 arriving at the mouth of the Domodedovo airport, the Itar-Tass agency spokesman, referring to the Committee of Inquiry into Russian, Tatiana Morozova.


Issued public television video terminal filled with smoke, including what appeared to be bodies and luggage on the floor.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called the bombing a terrorist attack and immediately ordered extra security at airports and transportation hubs across the country. Moscow police on alert in case of new attacks.

Russian Health Minister Tatyana Golikova said 35 people died in the blast and 93 people were hospitalized. Forty-one of the wounded were in serious or critical condition, "he said. Some people have received care outside the hospital, while others were treated for hearing loss, fractures and smoke inhalation.

Previously, the National Committee of Russia against terrorism, had said that 35 people were killed and 152 wounded in the blast.
