The activists gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square, said they were organizing a march "of millions of men around the capital Thursday - one week after anti-government protests began in the city.
Helicopters Hover Protesters
At least 1,000 people gathered in the region, a focal point for protest. Some of them said they had spent the night and the smell of campfire smoke lingered in the air.

Troops and tanks remained a visible presence on the streets of the city. Police were expected to start the installation and resume their work throughout Egypt on Monday, reported the state Nile TV.
After driving around the port city of Alexandria for two hours, a team of CNN said he saw only two policemen on the streets Monday morning.
