Johannesburg, South Africa (AP) - Ten people were crushed to death Saturday wrapped in a South African township bar with New Year's Eve revelers, police said.
The 47-year-old owner of the inn was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, said police spokesperson Captain Adele Myburgh.
Police were alerted early Saturday morning at the bar in Ipelegeng Township, about three hours drive from Johannesburg and investigate the incident, said Myburgh.
It was unclear what happened. Witnesses, Myburgh said: "We have heard from more than one story."
