HP UNVEILS TOUCHPAD TABLET
San Francisco (CNN) - Hewlett-Packard showed the fruits of its acquisition of Palm on Wednesday.

The technology giant has demonstrated a new Tablet PC, and two new smartphones, and publication of plans to bring its software webOS for computers and printers.

Three appliances to run a new version of webOS, Palm software that began developing five years ago. HP is the design of wireless products to work together.

Here's what HP said in a press conference:

Compressed TouchPad

The tablet, called TouchPad as Motorola or Apple iPad Xoom. It has a glossy black casing and the touch screen of 9.7 inches and weighs 1.6 pounds, about the same as Apple iPad.

But unlike the tablets to compete with manufacturers of hardware, HP uses its own operating system, called webOS. HP has highlighted what he said was several advantages over the leading IPAD.

For example, the touchpad at the forefront of new technologies, silicon chip manufacturing giant Qualcomm. Dual-core 1.2 GHz is "screaming fast," said Jon Rubinstein, the HP exec to lead the division of Palm.

HP also promotes the ability of managers to run multiple software applications. Users can easily switch between applications running in the background and go through open applications.

Function resembles the situation in the playbook pad from Research In Motion, maker of the BlackBerry. Google's Android and IPAD also have their own take multitasking.

"This is a true multi-tasking," said Sachin National leader webOS. "Multi-tasking was not in arrears. It 'was a key design principle from day one. And it shows."

Unlike the iPad, the touchpad can also play Flash movies, the most popular video format on the Internet. Playbooks and tablets running Android is also able to reproduce the Flash clip.

The TouchPad is equipped for video conferencing. HP says it is working with Skype and other software manufacturers to allow owners to easily webOS gadget to communicate.

The version of Wi-Fi only the touch pad will be released this summer on U.S. shelves with 3G and 4G phones will follow.

As RIM, HP subscribes to the companies with their new tablet.

"TouchPad is more than a pretty face," said Rubinstein. "It's a powerful tool, too."

New smartphones webOS

The pre3, a new version of the original webOS Palm phone has a 3.6-inch touchscreen, which is slightly larger than an iPhone. It also has a sliding physical keyboard, ideal for e-mail addicts.

Rubinstein pre3 called "smart phone for professionals who want the power and productivity without sacrificing their personal passions."

"Finally, a phone, you can use for business, you do not want to leave the workplace," he said.

In this area, HP head to head with Apple. The manufacturer of the iPhone is also trying to get its products into the hands of business customers and has gained ground on market leader RIM.

Like the touchpad, is intended to pre3 to launch this summer.

HP also introduced a consumer-based phone calls the Veer. The gadget has a 2.6 inch touch screen and a sliding keyboard that is "the size of a credit card," said HP.

"Not so much a smartphone and was so little," said Rubinstein. The Veer is available in "early spring" he said.

All these mobile devices can be loaded by the touchstone, an innovative docking station that powers the batteries using a process known as induction. When placed on the surface, a device can also be changed to "Exposure Mode": a new feature that allows a gadget to transform into a digital photo frame or display applications built specifically for this mode.

information on the application can be exchanged between devices with a feature called Touch-to-hand. "Wireless connectivity also extends to things such as synchronizing text messages to your phone when the tablet is in the room.

This has become a common target for many of the tech giants. Apple has managed to lure customers to buy Apple products only in terms of how to work together using software such as radio and iTunes. Google concert last week was about the synchronization of data between devices Android.

HP did not name the partner airlines of cells, the exact release date or price for any product. The presentation also failed to resolve key issues such as battery life in these units last, even though they say they are "of great ability."

Palm, the pioneer of handheld touch screen that have been previously published five smartphones webOS. These units Pre Pixi and were well received by critics but largely ignored by consumers. Based on the presentation on Wednesday, HP seems to be retired Palm brand.

"Today has marked a new beginning. You could say, as part of HP, now do it much bigger stage," says Rubinstein. When the parent company can provide adequate resources, he said, the Palm can not "ride the rapid expansion and diversification of webOS."

And HP is displayed in full.

WebOS computers and printers

In addition to these new mobile-oriented products, the HP event ended on a bomb.

HP is the world's largest manufacturer of personal computers, plans to build desktop and laptop computers that rely on webOS. The other major business sectors, printers, will also receive an injection system of touch-friendly.

Details were scarce, but a giant PC development machine with its own proprietary operating system instead of Microsoft Windows can have significant consequences.

Windows and PCs in general, are not the dominant force in computing, they once were. Smartphones recently surpassed PC units shipped, according to a report from research firm IDC.

"HP delivers on the promise of webOS huge," said Steven McArthur, executive responsible for HP applications and services. "These new products are just fantastic start to the HP plan to create the largest installed base of online users worldwide."
